Protests in Kolkata have intensified, with demands for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s resignation following the rape and murder of a medical student. On Monday, demonstrators plan to gherao the District Magistrate's office. Civil society, celebrities, and common people rallied in Kolkata over the weekend, seeking justice for the victim.

Protesters have vowed to continue, even if the police deny permission. As one leader said, “They see only one color—Trinamool’s green. If needed, we’ll move the court to keep the dharna going for weeks or even months. People want Mamata Banerjee to step down.”

But why stop there? Why is the same urgency not shown in addressing the rising rape cases in Madhya Pradesh? Why does Mohan Yadav escape the same scrutiny?

It’s time for consistent accountability—regardless of party lines.

We cannot imagine what is happening to families. Mohan Yadav will have to respond to this situation. He talks a lot about women, daughters...

And this happens. When is this going to stop

The BJP government in the state must come forward and explain how it is going to stop crime against women. "When will such incidents stop?

When will the government wake up from its slumber? If the government is unable to protect girls, it should step down and resign," he said.

"If Mamata is always wrong, why is Mohan Yadav always right?"

This phrase points to criticism of biased judgement or selective accountability.

It raises the question of why Mamata Banerjee is constantly blamed for issues in West Bengal,

while people like Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh may face similar allegations of mishandling crime or governance but are not investigated equally.

The underlying message could be about fairness, asking why some political leaders or parties face more backlash than others for the same failures. It highlights double standards in political discourse, emphasising the need for consistent accountability across the board, regardless of party lines.

कोलकाता:   मेडिकल छात्रा के साथ बलात्कार और हत्या के मामले में पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी के इस्तीफे की मांग को लेकर कोलकाता में 5 सितंबर के बाद भी अपना धरना जारी रखने का फैसला किया है।  सोमवार को जिला मजिस्ट्रेट कार्यालय का घेराव और विरोध प्रदर्शन भी करेगी। इस बीच, मृतक छात्रा के लिए न्याय की मांग को लेकर रविवार को कोलकाता में नागरिक समाज, मशहूर हस्तियों और आम लोगों द्वारा कई प्रदर्शन किए गए। 

हम पुलिस को लिखेंगे। लेकिन उन्हें केवल एक ही रंग (  दिखाई देता है। अगर पुलिस द्वारा अनुमति नहीं दी जाती है, तो हम अदालत का रुख करेंगे और धरना जारी रखने की अनुमति मांगेंगे। इसे एक और सप्ताह या एक महीने तक जारी रखा जाना चाहिए। लोग चाहते हैं कि ममता बनर्जी बंगाल में हाल ही में हुई मौतों और बलात्कार तथा हत्या के कई अन्य मामलों के कारण पद छोड़ दें, जो अक्सर रिपोर्ट नहीं किए जाते।  बालुरघाट में एक नाबालिग आदिवासी लड़की के साथ कथित बलात्कार की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित किया।

मध्य प्रदेश   शनिवार को आरोप लगाया कि राज्य देश की "बलात्कार राजधानी" के रूप में विकसित हो गया है और महिलाओं तथा बच्चों के खिलाफ अपराध लगातार बढ़ रहे हैं

हम कल्पना नहीं कर सकते कि परिवारों के साथ क्या हो रहा है। मोहन यादव को इस स्थिति का जवाब देना होगा। वह महिलाओं, बेटियों के बारे में बहुत बात करते हैं...

और ऐसा होता है। यह कब रुकने वाला है

राज्य की भाजपा सरकार को आगे आकर बताना चाहिए कि वह महिलाओं के खिलाफ अपराध को कैसे रोकने जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा, "ऐसी घटनाएं कब रुकेंगी?

 सरकार अपनी नींद से कब उठेगी? अगर सरकार लड़कियों की सुरक्षा नहीं कर पा रही है, तो उसे पद छोड़ देना चाहिए और इस्तीफा दे देना चाहिए।" 

"अगर ममता हमेशा गलत होती हैं, तो मोहन यादव हमेशा सही क्यों होते हैं?" 

यह वाक्यांश पक्षपातपूर्ण निर्णय या चुनिंदा जवाबदेही की आलोचना की ओर इशारा करता है। 

यह सवाल उठाता है कि पश्चिम बंगाल में मुद्दों के लिए ममता बनर्जी को लगातार दोषी क्यों ठहराया जाता है, 

जबकि मध्य प्रदेश में मोहन यादव जैसे लोगों पर अपराध या शासन को गलत तरीके से संभालने के समान आरोप लग सकते हैं, लेकिन उनकी समान रूप से जांच नहीं की जाती है।
